Official launch of Bordeaux GSEF 2025
The 7th Global Social Solidarity Economy Forum kicked off at Bordeaux City Hall on Tuesday 3 December 2024.
Juan Mari Aburto, Mayor of Bilbao, member of the GSEF Steering Committee and host of GSEF2018 and Mamie Awou Dieng Lô, Deputy Mayor of Dakar, GSEF continental co-chair for Africa, host of GSEF23 will be on hand to wish the 7th edition of this major global event every success.
The launch provided an opportunity to highlight the collective dynamic of the local authorities organizing the event. Speakers included: Pierre Hurmic – Mayor of Bordeaux y president of the GSEF, Alain Garnier – Vice-President of Bordeaux Métropole in charge of SSE and the local economy, Jean-Luc Gleyze – President of Departmental Council of Gironde, Alain Rousset – President of Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council Stéphane Montuzet – President of the Chamber for the Social and Solidarity Economy Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Benoît Hamon – President of ESS France who attended the event, also took the floor.
They all emphasised the opportunity represented by this Forum to highlight the SSE: its values, its usefulness and its capacity for innovation and transformation in the service of society, throughout the world. Marie-Agnès Poussier-Winsback, French Minister for SSE, also wished this international event every success.
The official ceremony ended with the signing of an 8-metre-long wooden structure made by Compagnons Bâtisseurs Nouvelle-Aquitaine, a local SSE player representing a giant #BordeauxGSEF2025.
The totem, which will be displayed at various points around the Bordeaux metropolitan area and completed during the afternoon as a participatory worksite, symbolises cooperation, co-construction and openness, the hallmarks of this 2025 edition of the Forum.
